NAMES Cassandra & Andrew Bucey LIVE IN Tacoma OCCUPATIONS ICU nurses HOW THEY MET Cass had a short-lived career as a traveling nurse, bringing her from Memphis to Tacoma General Hospital. “Andrew was a handsome nurse in the ICU where I was contracted to work for three months.” MOST MEMORABLE DATE Sunday, February 4, 2014, right after the Seahawks beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl. HOW HE PROPOSED At sunset, on their rooftop P-Patch. After attempting to plan the perfect proposal, Andrew just said “forget it” and started carrying the ring with him. “Perfect moments weren’t uncommon with her, so I knew it would happen. I carried it in my pocket for six weeks until we had the perfect private moment.” BACHELOR/BACHELORETTE PARTY Joint 1920s-themed weekend in Portland, Oregon NUMBER OF GUESTS 100 BUDGET $18,000 WEDDING TIME 6 p.m. WEDDING DAY WEATHER The perfect Seattle summer day COLORS Gold, eggplant, and off-white with peacock feathers VENUE Columbia City Theater NONTRADITIONAL ELEMENTS The ceremony entrance. The ceremony was held in a vaudeville theater with a stage and large red theater curtains. Friends Kit Goldsworthy and Jen Nelson, dancers in Sister Kate, performed a pretty hilarious number dressed as flappers to set the mood. They then pulled back the curtains on stage to reveal the wedding party “frozen” in place. As their song, “Islands” by the XX, started, the bridal party came to life and took their places on stage. Then Andrew and Cass walked out from each side of the stage and met in the middle of everyone. FAVORS unique buttons for guests to wear home THE DAY IN 3 WORDS Completely, genuinely us! HONEYMOON Planned on Belize, but we keep taking other trips.
I never had to question ‘us.’ From the beginning, I could be raw and vulnerable with him and still feel loved and protected. —Cassandra, the bride
