After dinner, David walked Alodia around the neighborhood, showing her all his favorite spots. HOW THEY KNEW HE/SHE WAS THE ONE Opposites in many regards, it just seems to fit. Alodia: “I’m a bit high-strung and type A, and David is a ‘big picture’ kind of guy.” BACHELOR/BACHELORETTE PARTY Hers: Brunch, mani/pedis, dinner, and a viewing of Beyonce’s “Lemonade.” His: Night out with friends at his favorite bars NUMBER OF GUESTS 175 WEDDING TIME 6 p.m. WEDDING DAY WEATHER The perfect Seattle summer day, complete with Mount Rainier peeking out COLORS Deep reds and pinks with green accents SPLURGED/SAVED Splurged on the location and food. “Most of our friends came from the East Coast, so we wanted to get married in a place that showed how beautiful Seattle is.” VENUE Admiral’s House NONTRADITIONAL ELEMENTS The processional music, featuring Lenny Kravitz and Led Zeppelin. Additionally, it was important for Alodia to honor her Ethiopian heritage, shown through a special piece of Ethiopian fabric draped across the wedding arch, a traditional Ethiopian dress for after the ceremony, a traditional coffee ceremony, and Ethiopian music and dancing during the reception FIRST DANCE SONG “Stand By Me” by Tracy Chapman FAVORS David is Canadian, so there were small bottles of maple syrup and bags of Ethiopian coffee in burlap bags made by Alodia’s mother and stamped with the couple’s initials THE DAY IN 3 WORDS Her: Went too fast! Him: Wouldn’t change anything! HONEYMOON Turks and Caicos
