NAMES Rebecca Peterson and John Munchak LIVE IN Bellevue OCCUPATIONS She’s a third grade teacher; he’s a software trainer at a law firm HOW THEY MET They were both in the University of Washington’s Master in Teaching secondary education program; after being friends for a year and a half, they decided to chance it and start dating WHAT ATTRACTED HIM TO HER He grows and learns, and becomes a better person because of her WHAT ATTRACTED HER TO HIM She felt comfortable and confident around him from the beginning; she always knew he meant what he said FAVORITE DATE Thai Tom on the Ave in the U District PREWEDDING PARTY She and her close friends and family got together to make paper flower arrangements that were used in lieu of real flowers NUMBER OF WEDDING GUESTS 60 WEDDING WEATHER They checked online in the morning and saw a picture of a giant black cloud, but by evening the weather was gorgeous WEDDING THEME Paper—the flowers were made with colored tissue paper, cupcakes were presented on boxes covered with similar materials, and the tulle skirt on her dress was meant to complement the look BEST MOMENT A guitarist was going to play during the ceremony, but he didn’t show up, so her sisters agreed to sing an old hymn, “For the Beauty of the Earth,” a cappella. The inspiration was the 1994 remake of Little Women, wherein the younger girls sing the same song at their older sister’s wedding
