Fetching Fido: Festive Floral Collars for Your Pooch

Ensure your furry friends look their very best on your big day.

For many of us, pets are more than just pets—they’re family—and we couldn’t imagine leaving them at home during the ceremony or reception. However, what’s the canine in your life going to wear? Go for a gorgeous, full floral collar, bursting with the same blooms that are tucked into your bouquets and boutonnieres. Our dog model, Chloe (pictured above), wears a flower collar by The Carrot Flower Company adorned with bay laurel, clematis vine, pepperberry, celosia, gomphrena, scabiosa, and anchored by a full dahlia (price upon request).

If your pup doesn’t get into tight-fitting collars, shoot for a loose floral wreath. Extend the blooms past the collar with a greenery-wrapped leash; just be sure to remember to tell your florist to avoid any plants that are considered toxic. This means forgoing things like lilies, daffodils, azaleas, and cyclamen in anything your pet might start nibbling before the hors d’oeuvres start being passed. Avoid florals altogether by grabbing a clip-on bow tie, ribbons, or faux pearl necklace to keep things fancy.

Dalmatians were well-known for their ability to calm horses in stressful situations, especially when pulling carriages. It’s how the spotted cuties were first employed as fire dogs—when fire trucks were pulled by horses, that is. Get your own calming Dalmatian by contacting the Dalmatian Rescue of Puget Sound.
