Go See: Flamingo Burlesque at the Can Can

Hey bachelorettes! We've found the best party in town.

By Amanda Zurita

If you’re brainstorming bachelorette ideas that include quiet spa weekends and afternoon teas, you might want to stop here.

But if you’re trying to organize a girls night that’s less expensive than a Vegas trip but just as fun, the Can Can has you covered with Flamingo, a tropical-inspired, retro-cool burlesque show is the bowels of Pike Place Market.

We partook in the performance during opening week last month and can assure that it aims to please, so to speak. The show is intimate, interactive, and a general barrel of laughs. The dancers, a crew of just three smokin’ hot gals and two light-on-their-feet guys, are entertaining and really, truly talented. (They’ll also make you want to up your pilates regime.)

And, just to assure anyone bringing their future mother-in-law to the mix, Flamingo is definitely sexy—you’ll see things a bathing suit doesn’t cover—but it’s also anything but grimy or sleezy, and is the general opposite of, say, Thunder Down Under or that “gentlemen’s club” across the street.

Final tip: Make it known that there’s a bachelorette in your midst for a special surprise.

Go for the good food (try the pan-seared scallops, sourced directly from the market upstairs); and the drinks are much more interesting than your bar-hopping vodka crans.

Flamingo runs through mid-October alongside other performances like Junk Yard and the Friday/Saturday Midnight Show. Spring for the VIP tickets ($85 each) for the best seats and a $20 food credit. General admission runs for $40 each and preferred seating is $65. Shows are strictly 21 and up.
